Planning a wedding in Georgia? Whether you are visiting Tbilisi for your wedding ceremony, celebrating with family and friends, or enjoying a romantic getaway, a little preparation will make your stay much easier.

At Say Yes in Georgia, we want you to feel comfortable and enjoy every moment of your visit. Here is our practical guide to transportation, mobile internet, food delivery, shopping, money and essential services in Georgia.

1. Taxi and airport transfers

We recommend using Bolt for getting around Tbilisi. The app allows you to book a ride, see the estimated fare and pay conveniently.

A few tips:

  • Download Bolt before your arrival.

  • Add your bank card to the app in advance.

  • Check the destination and fare before confirming your ride.

  • Avoid accepting unsolicited taxi offers at the airport or on the street, as these can be significantly more expensive.

If you prefer a private airport transfer, you can also arrange one in advance.

2. SIM cards and mobile internet

The main mobile operators in Georgia include Magti, Silknet and Cellfie.

You can purchase a SIM card at the airport or at an official operator store. If your phone supports eSIM technology, you can also arrange mobile internet before travelling.

We recommend checking available data packages and coverage before choosing an operator, especially if you plan to travel outside Tbilisi.

3. Food and grocery delivery

Ordering food or groceries is easy in Tbilisi. Popular delivery apps include:

  • Wolt

  • Glovo

  • Bolt Food

You can browse restaurants, compare menus and have meals delivered directly to your accommodation.

These services are particularly convenient on busy wedding days when you would rather relax than look for a restaurant.

4. Where to buy groceries

Several supermarket chains operate throughout Georgia, including Carrefour, SPAR and Nikora.

For fresh produce, local ingredients and a wider selection of farm products, we also recommend AgroHub.

You will find supermarkets in central Tbilisi and in many residential neighbourhoods. Opening hours and product selection vary by location.

5. Currency and Payments

The official currency of Georgia is the Georgian lari (GEL).

Bank cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and larger shops. However, it is useful to carry some cash for small purchases, local markets and places that do not accept cards.

If you need to exchange money, compare exchange rates and check for any commission before completing the transaction.

6. Emergency numbers

The unified emergency number in Georgia is 112.

You can call this number for police, ambulance and fire and rescue services. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day.

Save this number on your phone before travelling.

7. Useful apps for your trip

We recommend downloading these apps before arriving in Georgia:

  • Bolt - taxis and city transportation.

  • Google Maps - navigation and directions.

  • Google Translate - translation when communicating with locals.

  • Wolt or Glovo - food and grocery delivery.

Having these apps ready will make getting around Tbilisi much easier.
