1. Can foreigners get married in Georgia?
Absolutely. Georgian law places no restrictions based on nationality, religion, or country of residence. You can be citizens of two different countries, follow different faiths, or none at all — none of that matters legally. The only requirements are that both partners are at least 18 years old.
2. Will our marriage be legally recognised back home?
Yes. Georgia is a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention, which means your Georgian marriage certificate is recognised in the vast majority of countries worldwide. We handle the full legalisation process for you.
3. What documents do we need to bring?
The list is reassuringly short. Before your arrival, please send us clear scans of:

No certificate of single status is required — this is one of Georgia's biggest advantages. We handle all translations through a Georgian notary, so you don't need to arrange anything in advance.
4. How long does the whole process take? (Fast)
This is one of the main reasons couples choose Georgia. Registration can take place on the same day as your application, or on any date you choose. Most couples stay for a couple of days — enough time to file the paperwork, hold the ceremony, and enjoy a proper photoshoot.
5. Do we need witnesses? What if we're travelling just the two of us?
Georgian law requires two witnesses at the registration. If you are travelling as a couple and prefer to keep things intimate, we provide witnesses on your behalf.
6. Do we need a visa to enter Georgia?
Citizens of more than 90 countries can enter Georgia without a visa, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Israel, Turkey, EU countries and the UK. Just let us know your nationalities when you reach out and we will confirm your entry requirements straight away.
7. What happens after the registration? Do we get the documents the same day?
Yes — your Georgian marriage certificate is issued immediately after the registration. We then take care of the notarised translation and apostille so it is fully ready to use in your country of residence. Standard processing takes 4 business days.
